Opeyemi Akinyemi-Babajide is a development economist by training with over ten years of experience. Her main research interests include Energy Economics (specifically energy policy and environmental quality), sustainable development economics and policy impact evaluation using CGE models and econometrics. Previously, she worked at Covenant University, Nigeria as an Assistant Professor of Economics (2012 to 2022) and as a Consultant with the United Nations (2019 to 2022).
She obtained her Bachelor, Masters and doctoral degrees from Covenant University in 2009, 2012 and 2017 respectively. She has successfully executed funded research projects with grants from reputable research institutions with her research team members.She was a recipient of the 2019 Africa Guest Researcher Scholarship by the Nordic Africa Institute, Uppsala, Sweden and was selected as a 2019 Research Fellow with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
She is a member of professional associations such as the Nigerian Economic Society, International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), Nigeria Association for Energy Economics (NAEE), Nigerian Association of Macroeconomic Modellers (NAMM) and the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM). Currently, she is a Senior Policy Advisor with the Government of Alberta, Canada.
